Dear George Lucas,
As an avid Star Wars fan, you can imagine my disdain when you re-released "A New Hope" in 1997.
Greedo shooting first was the worst idea since the crucifixation. Han was a pirate. His immorality had to be established, in order to make his transition at the end of the movie more poignant...
That aside, Greedo is no Boba Fett, hence why he's Jabba's lacky on the dust ball of Tatoonie, but I think that even a remedial nerf herder with minimal knowledge of a blaster could hit someone at point blank range.
Han knew why Greedo was there. He knew he had two options, smoke Greedo and run, or get killed by Greedo. Greedo never intended to take Han to Jabba. He even said that he'd been waiting "a long time for this". Han knew Greedo was going to kill him.
Making it a morality thing is stupid. Han is a pirate. A smuggler. He does immoral things.
You, George Lucas, have committed the great crime of all. LEAVE THINGS ALONE.
Love,
Stacie
